Boarding

Scavenger Hunt, Tricky Trivia and Burger Night

What a week it has been in the Boardo. Thank you to Georgia Baker-Miller and Charlie Duver for organising and carrying out a scavenger hunt for our Year 7-9 boarders. There was certainly a lot of energy in the Boarding House common room where the central base was held. Winners are always grinners with Pepper Bowes and Ella Rodgers taking out the title of Scavenger Hunt Champions 2022.

During dinner we have pushed the general knowledge of our boarders, with some sharp thinking during our Tricky Trivia Tuesday. The senior girls took the win very quickly with some wit and possibly quick referencing on a phone or two! This has been a wonderful way to bring a little more banter into the House and break-up the week with some activity that builds friendships and humour.

Our wonderful chef, Josh, continues to amaze the boarders and staff. This week, Josh produced an American-style Burger Night. Boarders had a choice of a classic American Beef Burger or a Spicy Fried Chicken Burger. With a side of fries, slaw, and dessert, the boarders and staff certainly enjoyed the variety of food on offer and the quantity. The feedback from our Boarders, was that it was “Awesome” and “The best dinner yet”. I’m not too sure that burgers will be on the menu each week, but they certainly put smiles on our faces. Thank you Josh!

Casual boarding

Have you ever considered casual boarding? With our after-school programs in full-swing and our day school students taking these opportunities with determination our boarding houses can offer a comfortable place for an evening or two. When a casual boarder finishes their after-school commitment they are able to be picked up by our driver and brought back to the boarding house. Here they enjoy dinner, academic assistance, super supper (on a Wednesday), a warm and comfortable bed for the night with breakfast and lunch the following day. Casual boarding is becoming a popular choice for families and their children of all ages, and I encourage any family to consider this option.

If you would like to trial boarding, experience the benefits of casual boarding or simply enquire about boarding in general please do not hesitate in contacting Susie Holcombe or myself.

Best wishes,

Andrew
