Japanese Sister School

Last week students in Year 9 and 10 held a Webex with our sister school; Yaei High School in Japan. Students in Japan came into school on their summer holiday break especially to talk with us.

We had a great time. We learned that we have a lot in common. Japanese students were keen to know what was the current fashion in Australia and also our favourite bands and what we like to do in our spare time.

We are having a lot of fun connecting with them. We finished our Webex session with a 'just dance' together. We are looking forward to their visit next year.

Japanese garden

Yesterday the Year 9 and 10 Japanese class assisted in replanting some trees in our Japanese garden at the front of the College. We now have Cherry Blossoms さくら Sakura, Japanese maple trees もみじ Momiji, and also Camelias つばき Tsubaki

The original garden was planted on the 20th anniversary of our sister school agreement with the visiting exchange students and teachers from Yaei High School.

In Japan there is a proverb 「かちょうふうげつ」(kachoufugestu) which means to experience the beauties of nature, and in doing so learn about yourself. In Term 4 we hope to work on this.
