In culmination of our learning in Dance this term, Ellie and Kara will hold a disco party for School of Wonder children's final Dance lesson for Term 3. Children are invited to come to school in their disco wear on Monday, September 12. Classes will be grouped - Foundation and Year 1; Years 2 and 3, and will attend the disco at an allocated time on that day.
Normal Monday programming will take place around the scheduled disco times, so please ensure children are comfortable. Closed-toe shoes are required.

On Friday, August 26, School of Wonder children and staff participated in a Book Week celebration. The day was spent celebrating story - the many stories we have around us and the enjoyment story can bring to us in our day. Children and staff came to school dressed as one of their favourite book characters or a connection to the 2022 Book Week theme, 'Dreaming with eyes open'. This theme encourages us to look around us to see and notice the wonder of the world. The Book Week poster this year showed us God’s creation - nature, birds, animals and people, connecting us to our cultural history of the past, the present and into the future.
Children showed off their outfits by parading to DJ Ella's tunes, before taking part in a cross-age activity connected to one of the nominated Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week books. Watching the engagement between the older and younger children was beautiful to see.
It was fabulous to have so many parents, carers and family members taking part and enjoying some time in the School of Wonder and enjoying books with their children.
Thank you for joining us. We all had a great day!

A huge thanks to Helen and Joe from Collins Booksellers Shepparton for their generous donation of four $15 gift vouchers to spend in store, along with a book bag, to award to four School of Wonder children as part of Book Week celebrations. The children were very excited to watch the spinning wheel turn after their Book Week parade, as they eagerly waited for it to land on the prize winners. The lucky winners were:
Foundation - Gurman
Year 1 - Hope
Year 2 - Alex
Year 3 - Tilly
The day was such a buzz for the children and Learning Mentors too - an amazing day had by all.

On Tuesday, August 23, the Years 1 and 2 children set off for the Bendigo Discovery Centre. This was a great opportunity for the children to make connections between their Inquiry learning about ‘How the World Works,’ and science experiments. They loved the giant slide where we saw many children overcome their fears. It was the highlight of our learning this term.
On return to school, children created their own models, using the knowledge they had gained while exploring the Bendigo Discovery Centre.

In Foundation, we have been focusing on how “I can talk to God” for Religious Education. We are really engaged in our morning prayer time and have created a wonderful prayer space for us to talk to God. We have learnt how to do a “5 finger prayer” and were able to make our own.
Thumb - the closest to our heart, we pray for those closest to us - our friends and family.
Pointer finger - used to give directions, we pray for teachers, coaches, doctors and first responders.
Middle finger - is the tallest, we pray for leaders in our school like our School of Wonder Leader Kara and leaders of our church; children prayed for Father Peter
Ring finger - is the weakest, we pray for the sick, poor and most in need of help.
Pinkie finger - is the smallest, we pray for ourselves and our own needs.

Foundation children recently visited Kyabram Fauna Park where they were delighted to be able to get up close to the animals. The children also participated in an education session during their visit.
Victoria Police officers recently visited St Anne's College where they spoke to Foundation children about how they keep our community safe. The children were given the opportunity to ask the officers questions and to get a close look at some of the gear the officers use on the job. The children were super excited to see the flashing lights and hear the siren on the police vehicle before the officers left the college.
School of Wonder children recently walked to nearby Waterbird Park in Kialla to participate in the One Tree Per Child program. According to ABC News, Shepparton has reached a global milestone, planting the largest number of trees in the world as part of the One Tree Per Child initiative.
