Enrolments for 2023

If you have a child, or know of someone who has a child to enrol in Prep for 2023, please see Ana for an enrolment form, go to the office at Buninyong or access an enrolment form via our school website. We are excited that in line with the current Department of Education guidelines we are able to provide our Pre-Schooler Program during the fourth term as part of our enrolment process. Once you have returned your enrolment form, you will be sent further information to book your child into the Pre-Schooler Program. Please see Ana if you require further information.

Book Week

Thank you to all our students who celebrated Book Week with so much enthusiasm. It certainly highlighted the fun and curiosity that books and reading creates. A big highpoint for the week was our book swap on Thursday. Students loved the opportunity to swap, read and share a book with their friends and have asked if this can be done on a more regular basis. We will certainly look into this! Please see the link below to all the highlights throughout the week. A big thank you as well to all our parents who supported the events throughout the week. Friday’s dress up celebration was certainly the best one to date so thank you for all the time and effort that was put in.

Eggs for sale

1 Dozen $6 or ½ dozen $3

If you would like to buy fresh free range eggs from Scotsburn please see Dani in SC2.

Respectful Relationships

As part of our Family Groups Rotations on Fridays, we are continuing with one group having a whole-campus focus on Respectful Relationships. Over the past few weeks, students have been learning about different coping strategies and when is the time to use them. Students worked on these strategies on Friday, negotiating rules and playing games with students across all ages. They did a fantastic job!

SC1 Learning Snapshot

In Maths, students have been learning about objects that are symmetrical and about the line of symmetry. Students loved using the iPads to take photos of objects around the room that were symmetrical and then draw the line of symmetry through each object.

Again, I just wanted to acknowledge the importance of home reading. It is wonderful to see the students that are reading each night practising the skills we are using at school. I cannot emphasise enough how much of a difference it can make to your child’s reading skills and their confidence. We have had a big focus on sight words the last week and making sure we are steadily learning these to increase our fluency when reading. Each week I look through student’s diaries. Congratulations to the students who have already made our reading challenge this term and thank you to the parents who support their child’s reading goals.

Book week was certainly a big focus in our classroom last week. We shared many of the shortlisted books and engaged in lots of fun book responses. Please see our Book Week video for lots of highlights.

Thanks,

Ana

SC2 Learning Snapshot

This week in SC2 the students had a wonderful time exploring and unpacking some of the shortlisted books during ‘Book week’. Students completed a series of activities, rotations and reading activities related to a range of the texts and became fully immersed, which was delightful to see.

In Respectful Relationships, students continued to look at strategies that required cooperation. This week saw the students working in small groups to play ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey’, with a twist. The aim was to direct a blindfolded team member to pin the tail as precisely as possible onto the donkey. The teams which were calm and cooperative were able to direct all team members accurately towards the correct position.

Not long to go now until camp - only 5 more sleeps! Please carefully read the camp booklet/medical forms that went out last week both on Compass and a hard copy, to ensure that you have everything that you need. Just a reminder that camp is 100% nut free, so please DO NOT pack any nuts or nut products for snack or lunch on the first day. All payments are now due on Compass so if you have any concerns or questions regarding payment please contact the office.

Pre-Departure Checklist

Before you head off on camp, please ensure the following tasks have been completed:

  • Permission slip has been signed on Compass and payment has been made on Compass.
  • Medical Form is complete and returned. Any medication is to be fully labelled with dosage requirements on the label (including Panadol).
  • Dietary Requirements form is complete and returned (if applicable).
  • All packed items have been named.
  • Behaviour expectations have been discussed at home.

Thank you,

Dani

SC3 Learning Snapshot

Book week was such an amazing celebration! SC3 did such an amazing job embracing the week. From Monday with our author visit right through to dress up day, every day was jam packed with excitement and fun.

During reading sessions, students have been focussing so hard on their reading goals and reading stamina. Each and every student can now verbalise their reading goal as well as how they are working towards the goal. Feel free to quiz your child at home!

A reminder that the 5/6 Halls Gap Camp deposit and consent is now overdue on Compass. We are going in Week Two of Term 4. If you are having any problems or have any questions, please ring the school office.
