From the

Principal

Dear Parents / Carers,

Term three will end on Friday 16 September at 2.30pm. We have had a very productive term of learning. We were pleased with our NAPLAN results which were sent home to families last night. Last Monday our teachers mapped out the curriculum for term four.

The highlight of this term has been our production of Beauty and the Beast JR. Today it is recognised that to be truly well educated one must not only learn to appreciate the arts but must have rich opportunities to actively participate in creative work. The arts are languages that most people speak, cutting through individual differences in culture, educational background and ability.

Over two nights last Tuesday and Wednesday, the Rowville Primary School community gathered at The Drum Theatre to appreciate the performance. We were joined on the second night by the Hon Kim Wells MP, Member for Rowville, and his daughter Tahnee.  I would like to thank our team at Rowville Primary School for the support they have given our students. Over the two nights our staff volunteered their time to make the show an outstanding success. Thank you also to Dee from Amazing Transformations for the fabulous costumes that were featured in our production - amazingtransformations.com.au

Finally, I would like to acknowledge our producer Sue Macdonald and our director Drew Birnie.

Participating in projects such as this creates a blur between the academic and non-academic. This is because engagement through the arts often results in greater academic achievement and higher test scores. The latest edition of the student produced Friday Program features interviews with some of our actors - see link below . . .

The end of term is also the end of Catherine Ford’s six-month placement as Shadow Principal at our school. We thank Catherine for all of her support during her time at Rowville Primary School and trust that she will take the learning from a primary setting to her future leadership position.

Kasey Nicholas has indicated that she will be leaving us at the end of this term. Kasey is a caring person who has shown dedication to her students. We wish Kasey nothing but the very best for her future endeavours.

I wish all families a wonderful term three break. Term three will conclude at 2.30pm on Friday 16 September. Term four will commence at 8.45am on Monday 3 October.
