The Year 6s will be sleeping out on the school oval in term 4 to raise money for the homeless.

What does a School Sleepout involve?

A School Sleepout is an overnight fundraising and engagement event hosted by the school to learn about homelessness and poverty and to support Vinnies Victoria. Most importantly, hosting a School Sleepout allows you to:

• Help your school community to better understand homelessness, poverty and the challenges faced by some of the most vulnerable in our community.

• Enable your school community to make a tangible impact on locals in need by raising funds for Vinnies Victoria.

• Promote values of compassion, empathy and leadership within the school community.

Who is a School Sleepout for?

School Sleepouts are targeted towards secondary school-aged students or senior primary students. It is at the school’s discretion which year levels they include in the Sleepout. It is important to review the Victorian Department of Education’s Staffing and Supervision policy to ensure that you are providing adequate supervision for the event including Working with Children Check (WWCC) Requirements. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

A reflection you can have at home

Mt 6:19-21

Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and woodworms destroy them and thieves can break in and steal. But store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth or woodworms destroy them and thieves cannot break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Journeying Together

Sacrament preparation for families booklet

https://sacraments.melbournecatholic.org/

Journeying Together covers the sacraments most commonly celebrated with primary-school-aged children - Reconciliation (Penance), Eucharist, and Confirmation. This resource will complement your child’s sacrament preparation at their Catholic primary school or in a parish catechetical setting.

Each sacrament module includes four sessions. Each session includes an invitation to explore and integrate the family’s lived experience with concepts from Scripture, the Church and the sacraments, along with opportunities to pray together.

We hope that by opening this opportunity, many will encounter Jesus and engage with their faith in a fresh and meaningful way.
