Reflecting on the life of Queen Elizabeth II

'For me the teachings of Christ and my own personal accountability before God provide a framework in which I try to lead my life... I, like so many of you, have drawn great comfort in difficult times from Christ’s words and example.
Queen Elizabeth II, 2000

On Friday, Australia woke to the news that our beloved Queen for the past 70 years had died during the early hours of the morning.

As a school, we felt it important that we reflect on her life and give students a sense of the importance of the historic moment they were witnessing unfold in our world.

Our flags were lowered to half-mast and will remain that way during the period of mourning. Mr Asher presented a reflection to secondary students. He read a few quotes from the Queen, reflecting on her faith and the Bible. He spoke about her legacy and the importance of living out our faith, no matter our role in society. He then prayed, giving thanks for her life and prayed for those grieving. Primary students also had a time of reflection during their assembly.

Our school will also now be closed on Thursday 22 September, in line with the National Day of Mourning Public Holiday as declared by Prime Minister Albanese.
