Selected students in Years 3-6 will participate in the Primary Speech finals, representing their Year group on Thursday 15 September, in the school hall. The speeches will commence at 9:15am with the Year 5 students. It is difficult to determine an exact starting time for Year 6. There will then be a short break and afterwards, Year 3 students will commence at 10:35am followed by Year 4. Congratulations to the following students for making the finals:
Year 5 - Julian Collins, Annabelle Hamilton, Ryan Hill, Ella Walford
Year 6 - Lily Foley, Savannah Lea, Jonah Moore, Max Sweeney
Year 3 - Will Bloch, George Devlin, Tom Ditchfield, Scarlett Shepherd
Year 4 - Fletcher Andrews, Sophie Foley, Angus Hamilton, Ronnie Ackhurst Powell
All parents are welcome to attend and watch the speeches.
Camp Quality Cancer Education Program, featuring the Camp Quality Puppets, visited our school today to deliver cancer education that dispels myths. Their puppets provided interactive and age-appropriate cancer education for children. The puppet show related to the children on their level and explored themes relevant to the cancer experience:
• You can’t catch cancer from someone else
• Treatments and side-effects of cancer
• How to be supportive of someone facing cancer
• The importance of recognising our own strengths and the power of positivity
The children across K-6 loved attending the show and learnt a lot of valuable information, which I'm sure they would like to talk to families about this afternoon.
Grandparents and families are welcomed into our school this Thursday 15 September. At 11:40am we will provide tea, coffee and morning tea and then grandparents are welcome to go into classrooms to see the great work our students are doing.
Thank you so much for continuously supporting our school, especially through fundraising. This term, we are hosting a Colour Explosion School Fun Run to raise money for Catholic Mission and for our Mini Vinnies’ projects in the school.
The big day is coming! We are so excited to host our Colour Explosion School Fun Run on Wednesday 21 September (changed due to a public holiday). On that day, the children can wear plain clothes. It would be great if your child wears a white shirt as part of the Fun Run. They are also encouraged to bring a change of clothes as they may get wet. The children will take part in a series of fun novelty activities in between our runs through colour stations. They will be covered in non-toxic, high-quality colour powder from head to toe! They will also need a water bottle and their hat. Each child will be given a headband and a pair of glasses to wear.
Congratulations to 1S, who are currently topping the class leader board for donations, but it is a very close competition! It is not too late to start! Visit www.australianfundraising.com.au to create your child’s cyber-safe fundraising profile. Instructions are in your child’s sponsorship booklet. You have until Friday 24th September to fundraise, so make sure you get cracking! A big thank you to Miss Carmel McCosker for her organisation of the event and our Year 6 Mini Vinnies team.
Students in K-2 will have a social at school on Friday. It will be during school time from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm. The children will be provided with some afternoon tea.
