Final words

Lock down's have sadly become a normal part of living and as much as we are all frustrated by it, we take solace that it gives us time to spend time with our children and to really get to know them. We can do this by asking them questions or by playing board games with them, having a go at their computer games for their entertainment, or simply observing how they interact with the world. 

Observation as a learning tool can sometimes be overlooked but the power of active observation - not whilst scrolling through our social media or watching sport - can give us a completely different perspective on our children and our families. 

Alongside observation, use the time to educate yourself so that your knowledge can inform your observation. Watch a TED Talk, read a book, write in a journal or listen to an actual album of music from our favourite artist without commercials and distractions. 

You may end up seeing things that you never knew existed.
