Things to see, read and hear

In every issue of our newsletter, we will select some videos, articles or podcasts that we recommend to our families to broaden your knowledge base.

If you have the streaming service 'Stan', check out the fascinating documentary "In search of greatness", which looks at the journey that elite athletes take to reach the top and it is based on the book 'The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance' by David Epstein. Also on Stan is the documentary 'Unraveling Athena' which looks at the careers of female tennis players and has some insight into what makes the 'great' different from the rest, and the brilliant 'Take the Ball, Pass the Ball', which looks at the rise of FC Barcelona with the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andreas Iniesta changing the way smaller players were perceived in the football world.

In terms of books to look at, 'The Playmaker's Advantage: How to Raise Your Mental Game to the Next Level' by Daniel Peterson and Leonard D. Zaichkowsky is filled with golden nuggets of information and examples that are priceless for athlete development, as is 'The Art of Thinking Clearly' by Rolf Dobelli, which focuses on decision making and cognition in a range of fields.
