Instrumental Lessons
Thanks to all members of the College Community who have supported the continuation of Instrumental Music Lessons throughout the recent period of remote learning. We are very grateful to have been able to continue offering tuition across all instruments via Microsoft Teams during this time. The return to on-campus learning has seen some great creativity across the Music Department, with lessons occurring in various locations in and around the Music Centre and Draney Theatre in order to teach within the mask requirements. The success of these lessons would not have been possible without your support and our dedicating teaching staff. Thanks to all.
Ensembles and Concerts
Due to ensemble rehearsals remaining cancelled and restrictions on College events, we are sorry to announce that the recent Winds and Percussion and Chapel concerts have been cancelled. The Music Department is working closely with the College Events Team in the hope of Grandparents Day and Soiree going ahead within current event restrictions. Further correspondence regarding these events will be communicated via the College Newsletter, App and weekly timetable emails.
Cathedral Concert Recording
We are pleased to share the link to the recording of the Cathedral Concert with you. Thank you to the College Tech Crew who made the filming of this special event possible. Congratulations once again to all students and staff involved, in what was a very successful night of choral and string music.
Tertiary Music Pathways
Students considering a tertiary pathway in Music for 2022, please note the following key information. Music courses have certain requirements, which can include auditions and/or submitting portfolios of work. These requirements often need to be completed well before non-music QTAC applications. Below are some key points and dates for various institutions. Please note, there have been some slight changes to the audition process for some courses this year.
If you are considering a tertiary pathway in Music for 2022, please ensure you discuss this with your Classroom and/or Instrumental Music teachers to ensure adequate support is provided. Should students or parents/guardians have any questions, you are encouraged to contact the Music Department at any time. For further information regarding QTAC applications, please contact College Career Counsellor; Ms Tara Franklin who can also offer further assistance specific to this area.
Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University
Bachelor of Music (Performance: Jazz, Classical etc; Creative Music Technology; Composition; or Musical Theatre)
- Submit your QTAC Application between: closes 31 August 2021
- Register and Pay for your Audition via GriffithPAY by: 31 August
