Science - Ms Foley

Juniors

Our junior school students have continued to investigate living things. This week we discovered that all living things need to breathe. We focused on oxygen, where it comes from and how it is made. They completed an experiment involving water, a leaf and sunlight. They discovered that trees and plants, with the help of the sun's energy and water, turn carbon dioxide into oxygen! They did a wonderful job of recording their hypothesis and observations!

Middles

Our middle school students have worked hard at classifying living things. We have discovered that we can classify living things based on their features (such as wings, scales and fur) and we can also classify them depending on what type of animal they are such as reptiles or mammals. This week we focused on plants. We discovered that plants have many different features such as roots, stems and petals and that plants need certain things to survive. We discovered that we eat many different types of plants, even the stalks of some (such as celery!).

Seniors

Our senior school students have continued their research into animal adaptations. Last week we had a great time revising what we learnt by competing in a  ‘Kahoot’ quiz. We learnt about colouration adaptation and completed a ‘Camouflage Critters Challenge’.

Well done to all the Trinity Scientists! You have all done a fantastic job adapting to online learning this term!
