Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

As we approach the end of Term 3 I look back on the past few weeks, as we have had to work through another lockdown, and I must try my hardest to see the positives which have come out of our remote learning situation. Our teachers and support staff, with your incredible support, have worked their hardest to ensure they continued to meet the learning needs of the children in their classes as well as address the wellbeing of our children. One of our major learning focusses has been our small group reading lessons to really target the reading skills of our children across all year levels. Our children's reading skills, we know, are such an important part of their overall learning.

Of course, from my point of view, this does not replace what we all want for our children, which is to be here at school with their friends and teachers. There has, nevertheless been much achieved and fun had. Yesterday for example all our classes had the chance to join in an amazing Dance class with Bree from Kinect2Dance. So much fun and talent on display while learning some new skills and getting exercise at the same time. Thanks to Ms McLeary for organizing this and Ms Antonella and the Wellbeing Team.  Another great example of mixing learning with a fair bit of fun was Ms Grufferty's challenge this week for her class to design a disguise for a potato character which they would then use to write a story.  Here is an outline of the task.

Friday Wellbeing and Design technologies 😀- Disguise a potato Challenge

  • Today for your design challenge, we are asking you to disguise a potato! 1. 👀 Look at the examples in the photo for some ideas 2.🥔 Find a potato or an apple at home and disguise it into something different ! You can use any materials that you have at home !
  • Take a photo of your disguised potato ! We will put all of your disguised potato photos in to a slideshow so make sure you have it up before 3.00pm! ***Please keep your potato for next week’s writing!

School Uniform

As we continue to explore the options through our new school uniform supplier we are at the stage where we would like to gather some feedback in regard to some of the items we have initially chosen for our 2022 Prep uniform. Of course all existing school items for all other year levels can be worn during a transition period as we gradually faze out old stock over the next two years and replace with the new. Tomorrow I will send home a Google Form with some questions to gain peoples thoughts and impressions.

RUOK Day

Today is RUOK Day, a day to check in with those around you and to ask, Are You Okay. Everyone's mental health and wellbeing is our responsibility and now more than ever we should take the time to ask that important question of family friends and others. Today some of our Year 2/3 students designed some wonderful posters in response to the theme RUOK.  Click on each of the images to enlarge.

Staff Update

As you may know, a number of the Learning Support Staff we have here at Trinity are pre-service teachers studying at University and completing their teaching degrees. This is fantastic for us as it ensures we have very, enthusiastic, capable and knowledgeable support for our teachers.  Ms Taylor Dicello, who has been working in our senior classes this year recently completed her studies and has been very fortunate to have secured a full time teaching position at, School of the Good Shepherd in Gladstone Park. Taylor will therefore be leaving us at the end of this term to take up this wonderful opportunity. We wish her all the very best and thank her for the great work she has done in the short time she has been here at Trinity.

NAPLAN Reports

Hopefully all of our Year 3 and Year 5 families have now received the children's NAPLAN reports which were posted out last week. If this is not the case please email Mrs Boffa and let her know.

Positive Behaviours for Learning

On Monday a small team of Trinity staff attended a full day of professional learning with MACS Staff to look further into Positive Behaviours for Learning. This is all part of our school improvement plan which requires that we as a staff can  begin to 'develop a clear and consistent whole school approach to student wellbeing and managing student behaviour.'

As we further explore the Positive Behaviours Framework, we will call for input from parents so that we can continue to work together for the wellbeing of our children.
