Principal's Message

Our Focus Stays the Same.
As you may have already heard, unfortunately we did not receive funding to progress our planning for the new school in the recent May budget. This is very disappointing news, particularly as the staff have worked so hard for so many years to achieve this for our students. I don’t understand the reasons for this decision but as Principal I’ll continue to focus on improving student results and continuously improving our school.
Principals’ Forums
Each year DET runs a 2 day professional learning program for all Principals. Separate days are run for each region as there are so many people involved. This year I have been asked to speak about our College’s journey in improving results throughout the school. I will be presenting a workshop at the conference for our South Western Victoria region on 6-7 June as well as for the North East region. It is a wonderful compliment to our College and recognition of our success to be invited to present to other schools.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN testing is underway this week for Year 7 and Year 9 students. These tests give us invaluable information about how much our students are improving and act as a guide for us to determine areas we need to focus on in future. Students have been given a document on how to do their personal best in NAPLAN. A copy of the document can be viewed below.
Congratulations
Congratulations to our Rugby League Coach, Tony Adam for being appointed as the Australian School Boys Rugby League Coach again this year by the NRL. Tony will be taking the Australian team to England to play in November this year. Well done Tony!
Chinese Sister School Visit
Families in our school community are invited to play an important role in our upcoming sister school visit by hosting one or two students for one week in July. The Chinese students generally have intermediate to advanced English skills. Families will receive $250 per student to help with expenses. If you would like to be involved, please contact your campus office.
Student pick-up and drop-off
A reminder to families to avoid turning into driveways when dropping off or picking up their children at the school. This creates traffic delays and risks of accident or injury. Please put safety first at all times.
Cheers,
Genevieve Simson
