Children's Day (Kodomo no hi):

Originally called Boy's Festival (Tango no Sekku), Children’s Day is celebrated on this day. Families pray for the health and future success of their children by hanging up carp streamers and displaying samurai dolls, both symbolizing strength, power and success in life. We also learnt about the foods eaten and other traditions associated with the day.

Our students learnt how to make origami kabuto (samurai helmets) and senior students played the traditional children’s game Jan Ken Pon (rock, scissors, paper pop).
