Book Week
During Book Week we raised $44.55 during our Book Swap for Indigenous Literacy. Thank you to all at both campuses for your support of this worthy cause and, even though a relatively small amount, it will be appreciated by our remote Indigenous communities and has raised awareness for our students both of the needs of our Indigenous communities, the importance of literacy and the act of selfless giving.
Thank you also for your support of Book Week. Here are some quotes from entries in the Great 'Reading is My Secret Power Race' (winners yet to be decided - it's a really difficult task!!):

A Book in a Day – Clyde North Campus
On Tuesday, 13 August eight students travelled to John Paul College to participate in SIS Book in a Day. At 9am, students received a series of prompts including two human characters, one non-human character, a setting, an issue and five random words, all of which were to be incorporated into a 4000-6000 word illustrated novella before 5pm. They got straight into it – brainstorming ideas, assigning writers and illustrators, and distributing sufficient sugary snacks.
Over the next 9 hours the girls carefully constructed a chaptered story with an exciting plot, well-rounded characters and detailed illustrations. Whenever energy started to wane they hit the sugar again, until finally 5pm rolled around and it was time to collate and submit their finished product.
Well done girls, you did a fantastic job and showed how exciting writing can be!
