ASSEMBLY

HIGH SCHOOL

by Mrs Allison Sharp

We could not get through Term 3 without hosting a CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY for the high school. It was packed full of awards and speeches to celebrate sporting prowess, academic achievement, incredible and earnest personal and community efforts by students, and the respectful establishment of the high school in the eyes of the community outside.

It’s hard to encapsulate joy in a piece of writing about the many things the school students participated in so we’ll offer a list and summarize from there:

  • An acclaimed Australian Illustrator (Matt Ottley) of many talents wrote personally to us and recognized the Year 8 cohort for their excellent behavior, against the odds, at the Picture Book Excursion they attended.
  • The Year 9s were rock solid ambassadors of the school at the P&L city excursion.
  • The ACC recognized the student volunteers at the ACC as being the best on ground for that day.
  • The ACC also recognized the students for their incredible achievements showcased in Track and Field and their take home of 4 Shields to share the overall win with Grace Christian School. An incredible feat to win given many only saw their first hurdle or high jump mat, and only held their first appropriately weighted javelin, discus or shotput that day.
  • Out of 160 Events run the day of the ACC we couldn’t field 3. A true demonstration of COURAGE and COMMITMENT.
  • We had strong attendance for our own carnival and incredible participation from all students in the spirit of competing for their House Points. The high level of COMRADERIE was evident on this day.
  • The speeches that went on from Year 10 representatives Bush, Abby, Boston and Corinna were upstanding and stoked fire into our reasons for celebration.
  • The Merit Certificate Awarding was done at a pumping high speed but all worthy recipients were noted and joyfully celebrated as a whole school.

The big thanks go to Ms Gabrielson and Mrs Dee for the photos that were taken during the events of the term so we could reminisce the way we needed during this assembly. Plus a big shout out to musicians everywhere for singing it, instead of just saying it. To all parents and guardians raising teenagers in the ECCS community – what a wonderful job you are doing. Just keep feeding them, listening to them and showing up. Thanks for all you do with your families.
