Sportsmanship at it's Best!
Once again the true spirit of Mazza was displayed! In a hard fought game which saw Year 8 Blue go down by three points to High Wycombe in horrible conditions. This was a game where every boy gave everything they had on that field and were absolutely exhausted at the end of it.
When the final siren sounded and the opposition players ran to congratulate each other, on the other side of the ground two Mazenod boys Rhino and Bucko took the time to go back and carry off High Wycombe’s injured player by themselves. These boys are a credit to not only to their family but also MJFC and their coaches. This showed amazing sportsmanship in an otherwise heart breaking day.
Well done boys – Winners in our eyes!!

WEEKLY WRAP - 25.08.19
Year 7 Blue – Michael Ferritto (Coach), Paula (Team Manager)
Mazenod Blue Lost 21 to Upper Swan Black
Mazza Blue went into our final ready to play our best. The weather was the worst we have played in this year and so it was going to be a tough in and under game. The first quarter was a nil all draw as the ball went from one forward line to the other with the defence of both teams holding strong.
The second quarter was just as tough and unfortunately we did not take our opportunities and kicked five points to one. Unfortunately we lost two of our players to injury due to late hits and so were down to 13 players for the rest of the game. We did not come out switched on for the third quarter and Upper Swan took advantage and kicked two quick goals to take a 7 point lead into the last quarter. We were against the breeze but the boys had belief in themselves and came out to dominate the quarter but again did not quite finish off the game. We came back and hit the lead only to let them back in with a couple of minutes to go, to draw the match at full time.
We regrouped for a couple of minutes to let the boys know they were up for another five minutes each way. Unfortunately Upper Swan came out and within a minute had a goal on the board which set us back and we couldn’t get it back by the end of the first five min. The boys had to swap straight over at half time of overtime and the boys were tiring and Upper Swan kicked another goal to take the game.
I am really proud of the boys and the entire season and we were only a whisker away from playing off in a preliminary final. We look forward to 2020 and further improvement from all our boys.
A big thank you to John and Rob for being great Assistant Coaches and to Paula for being our super Manager. Without our fantastic support volunteers parents we would not have progressed as far as we have. Thank you very much to all that have contributed to our season!

The boys had a great start to the game, dominating the first quarter. By half time the scoreboard evened up, making for an exciting second half. The boys came out firing again in the third quarter and were able to hold on to the lead throughout the fourth quarter to run out winners. It was a great Preliminary Final clash and the whole team stood up to march into next week's Grand Final. All the best boys! Come down and support the boys at 11:00am on Saturday 7 September at Steel Blue Oval. Mazza, what a mighty team we are!
