Classroom News - Year 2

Pets
Year 2 have been learning about pets. We have been to a presentation about responsible pet ownership and we have met two of our classmate's dogs and guinea pigs.
We learnt how to take care of our pets and it was fun to meet some of our classmate's pets. If any other students would like to share their pets, they are asked to bring in photos of their pets to present to their class.
Thank you to the parents, students and pets who came in!
Talk Homework
Our talk homework went home on Monday. Students will be writing about what a great class pet might be. You are encouraged to talk about what animal might make a great class pet and reasons why they feel that this would be the best choice. We have been learning about different ways to open our writing, connect our ideas together and use WOW words to get our ideas across. Please speak with your child to share ideas to assist them in their writing.
Public Speaking
Year 2 have been learning the poem 'Forgiven' by A.A Milne. They will be reciting the poem in front of their class for their Talking and Listening assessment in Week 5. Each student has been given a copy of the poem to learn and practise at home. This will also prepare the students for The St Joseph's Cup; a public speaking competition.
Eisteddfod
The Stage One choir performed brilliantly at the Armidale Eisteddfod on Tuesday morning. The students performed 'Little People'and 'The Canoe Song'. Not only were the students excellent performers, but they were also attentive listeners for the other performances. Thank you to all the parents for ensuring that students were wearing their school uniform with pride and thank you to those who were able to come and watch. Well done Year 2, we are very proud of you!

Each lesson has been lots of fun and everyone has been trying their best and having a go with these new skills.
