2019 Term 1... done
We have had a very positive start to the school year. It is hard to believe that Term 1 is now over. We had many activities happening across the College from Kindergarten to Year 12. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our teachers and their willingness to always go above and beyond. We have a Secondary musical production in overdrive, with staff and students putting in 110% to make it happen. Our students enjoyed camps, sporting gala days, carnivals, speaking slams, leadership training seminars, stretching learning experiences, excursions, experiments, fundraising to support others in need, real world problem solving opportunities and so much more; all within a single term!
I have personally enjoyed being able to walk the length of our College observing students actively engaged in learning experiences from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
We have so many parents comment on the wonderful warm feel they get as they walk through our College on a school tour. They see students who belong, feel cared for and who are actively engaged in the life of the College. Parents regularly share with me their gratitude of our caring and committed teachers who consistently go above and beyond to help our students succeed and achieve. I feel blessed every day to work at TCC and to have the privilege of interacting with friendly students, committed staff and invested families.
On Thursday 25 April, we commemorated ANZAC Day and on this day we stop and remember the sacrifices made, by very brave and selfless men and women, so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have in our country today. It is a very special and important day for our country.
Our very own Mr Donaldson spoke at our recent ANZAC service and reminded us all of sacrifices made by others. Mr Donaldson’s own brother, Corporal Mark Donaldson, was awarded the Victoria Cross for risking his own life to save others. He is a great example of self-sacrifice and of preferring others.
The other sacrifice we remembered over the break is the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us all. Jesus, who knew no sin, became a sin offering to God for us. He became our perfect sacrifice. Jesus willingly went to the cross on our behalf, dying for the sins we committed. We believe and celebrate a resurrected Jesus who not only died but rose again so that we may have life and life to the full. At TCC we talk a lot about sacrifice. We talk a lot about being compassionate and preferring others. In Term One, we witnessed many of our students showing care for others, helping those in need and putting the needs of others above their own needs.
Thanks again for a wonderful term and I look forward to seeing you all again this term.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17
