Teaching and Learning

Returning to Remote & Flexible Learning

Miners Rest Primary School are committed to supporting the learning needs of all of our students and we are striving to make sure that 'remote & flexible learning' reflects our regular classroom learning as much as possible.

To ensure that quality learning experiences can be delivered to all students, and to support all of our students at their current point of learning in the core curriculum areas of Reading, Writing and Number, several layers of learning will occur each week for every student with their classroom teacher via WebEx. These layers of learning include Collaborative Classrooms (where students will engage with their teacher and peers in a whole class meeting), Point of Need Teaching Groups (where your child will work with the teacher in a small group focusing on identified knowledge, skills and strategies to progress their learning) and Individual Check-ins (to provide clarity around learning and check-in on well-being). Your child's classroom teacher will be in contact with you, and your child, this week to schedule times for these layers of learning.

Daily tasks will also be uploaded to SeeSaw and Showbie to engage and support learning and teaching for all students. It is critical that students submit completed work, as requested by teachers, so that feedback can be provided to progress learning and new learning can be planned. If your child is working on hard copy learning packs, arranged with your classroom teacher and collected at the office, completed work must be returned to the office on collection of the next pack.

We are thankful to our families who are able to support their children with learning at home and we are also very grateful to the families of students being supervised onsite for ensuring that they have the appropriate equipment to support their learning. When being supervised at school, please ensure that you child brings their named drink bottle, snack and lunch, a fully charged device with passwords and codes, as well as any extra support material required.
