Principal Report

A six week opportunity!

Thanks!

From our staff, to our community - thank you for your calm and understanding.  You are all doing a wonderful and important job for our own, in the most trying of circumstances.

As you go, remember: we're all in this together; and, look for the opportunity it offers.

The alternatives aren't great, will compromise your health and are counter-productive.

Cancellation of planned events

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all school camps for 2020.

In light of current conditions, uncertainty moving forward, planning for parents and importantly the health & well-being of our students, we are unable to commit to our camps program at this critical juncture in time.

In addition, we have postponed our school photos for term 3, 2020.  We are looking at an alternative solution in term 4, if we are back from remote learning.  They are an important keep-sake!

Other planned events, such as our Writer's Festival and our School Production are still being considered, and will have further advice and information provided as decisions are arrived at.

On-site & Remote Learners

Please read carefully, our process for essential workers, vulnerable students and students in the "programs for students with disabilities."  We can't help you if you don't help us by following the processes.

We want to support students who need to be on-site, but we also have a commitment to ensuring our staff are working with our remote learners, as much as possible.

Continuity of learning is paramount.  Priority areas of reading, writing and number will be evident in your child's learning over this 6 week period.

All key learning areas of the curriculum will also be offered, as required.

School Council

Next Monday is our August School Council (WebEx) Meeting.

I will forward agenda, minutes and link to school councillors today.

In addition, there will be a finance meeting prior to the General Meeting.

As always, meetings are open to our community, if you would like to attend, please contact me and I can share the meeting link.

Friday Curriculum Day

This Friday is a School Council approved Curriculum Day, advised by DET.  We are very grateful for the opportunity to further prepare for the best remote learning experience we can offer all our students.

Our school-operated OSHC service will run this Friday for our Curriculum Day and is available to families from 8 am - 5:30 pm.

Note: OSHC is available, unless otherwise notified, every school day of the year, between 7-8:45 am & 3:20-6 pm.

Assembly

Our scheduled assembly for this Friday is cancelled due to the Curriculum Day, that is now occurring.

Our next assembly will be Friday 21 August at 2:30 pm via WebEx.

I acknowledge the First People of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to the Elders of the past, present and emerging.
