LOCKDOWN DRILL

On Tuesday the 4th August at 2.40pm Echuca East PS will be enacting a lock down drill.

Staff will be explaining this to the students, but we do understand that this may still be a little confusing for some students, especially our Prep children who haven't done this before. In a lockdown, the staff will be asking the students to be out of sight, away from windows, sometimes under tables, but always quiet and calm.

We ask that you please talk to your child/ren about this prior to to the day so they understand what will be happening, and that it is something we need to rehearse, so we all know how to be safe in the event of an emergency.

We liken it to a safety drill done on a plane for every flight, chances are we never need to use it but it is something we need to know about and practise.

FACE COVERINGS

Following the recent announcement that face coverings will be mandatory for all Victorians from Monday, we can share the following advice from DET. This information will be updated if we are advised of any change.

Primary students who attend primary school will NOT be required to wear a face covering. Students who are aged 12 or over by Year 6 will NOT be required to wear face coverings. The Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that it is not practical to require some primary school students to wear face coverings while others are not required to.

Teachers and Education Support Staff

Teachers and education support staff will not be required to wear face coverings while teaching, but those who wish to do so, can. Teachers should wear face coverings in other areas of the school when not teaching (for example, in the staffroom, on yard duty and when providing first aid or taking temperatures), and when travelling to and from school.

Parents and Carers

Consistent with all those 12 and over, parents/carers will be required to wear face coverings whenever they leave the house, including for school drop off and pick up. If they are travelling in a car alone, or only with members of their household, they do not need to wear a mask.

BUS ZONES

A reminder to all parents and carers, please DO NOT park in any BUS ZONE to drop your children to school it is dangerous and illegal, and you can incur a $99- fine.
