Assessment during Remote Learning 2.0

Assessment is the ongoing process of:

  • gathering, analysing and interpreting evidence
  • reflecting on findings
  • making informed and consistent judgments to improve student learning.

Assessment for improved student learning and deep understanding requires a range of assessment practices to be used with three overarching purposes:

  • Assessment for learning: occurs when teachers use inferences about student progress to inform their teaching (formative assessment)
  • Assessment as learning: occurs when students reflect on and monitor their progress to inform their future learning goals (formative assessment)
  • Assessment of learning:occurs when teachers use evidence of student learning to make judgments on student achievement against goals and standards (summative assessment).

Assessments that are being conducted during Remote Learning 2.0 will be flagged in the Seesaw post that they are an assessment piece.  Assessments can come in many forms and can include:

  • Essential Assessment tasks for English and Mathematics
  • Live 1 on 1 or small group meetings for English and Mathematics
  • COLD Writes for Writing
  • Recording of reading books and Heart words
  • other tasks as necessary

Teachers ask that when requested parents and family refrain from helping. It is tempting to offer to help out your child, but please do not. This will give staff the necessary information to plan for the learning needs of your child.

CSPS Pulse Check families

Thank you to the families who completed the CSPS Pulse check last week. Each sub scool will be reviewing this data and taking on board the feedback.  Overwhelmingly, the feedback is positive which is great to hear.  The live sessions are well attended and families are pleased that there is this option.

At various times throughout the week, the subschools are providing 'live' check-in times for parents and students to log in to ask questions.  Some families did not know that these sessions were available and many others did not take advantage of these times. Please check Seesaw for times for each team.

WOW! So much work was done last week on Seesaw.  Well done to those students who are completing most or all of the activities set by the teachers at school. Great job!

Mrs Corcoran spoke about the quality of work in her assembly chat this week.  Some students are having difficulty reading or following the detailed instructions teachers are providing for set tasks. Don't forget to listen to the video or voice instructions for each task and follow those in order to present your best work!

Here are some examples of GREAT work!
