Principal's Report

Term 1

We are now more than half-way through the term. You may have noticed that in the last week or so you have not received any emails from me regarding cases of COVID-19 in the school. That is because we haven’t had any reported! Please remember to keep up the daily rapid antigen tests so we are picking up all cases and keeping our community safe.

There have been some students who have come to school with cold-like symptoms. When parents have been contacted to pick them up, they have said that their child has tested negative so they are well. This is a reminder that students should not be coming to school under any circumstances if they have a runny nose, sore throat, cough or fever. Thank you for you cooperation regarding this.

Compass Communication with the Class Teacher

Thank you for continuing to use Compass to communicate with your child’s teacher. An issue with our communication system is that if your child’s teacher is absent from school your email may not be read and responded to. When sending an email to your child’s teacher we request that you do the following

  1. Click on ‘Send email to Child’s teachers’
  2. Click on ‘Add Recipients’ and include the names of your section leader/s. They will then be able to respond on behalf of the teacher if they are absent.

As a reminder, the leaders are

Lower Primary – Kath Moore

Upper Primary – Rachel Morgan and Maddison Byrne

Secondary 7/8 – Kirsten Telford and Jessica Fitzsimons

Secondary 9/10 – Chris Malane and Cath Sloley

Secondary 11/12 – Megan Prenc and Jane Stacey

Concord School Council 2022

School Councils play a key role in Victorian government schools. A school council develops a vision for the school in collaboration with all members of the school community and is actively involved in the achievement of the targets within the school’s annual plan.

During the recent process to establish the Concord School Council for 2022, the number of nominations equalled the number of positions available, so an election was not required. Please find below the membership of the 2022 School Council.

We welcome Alexandra Devine onto the School Council.

Punctuality at the Beginning of the School Day

Every day your child is away from school/late impacts on the level of success that will be achieved throughout their time in school. We understand that sickness or  important health  appointments are a part of everyday life and cannot be avoided.

We also know that getting students to school every day and on time will enable us to get the best out of your child (academic, social and emotional growth) which is always our priority.

Routines and procedures are critically important in establishing a strong learning environment within each classroom.

For this reason it is extremely important that students are at school, ready to begin their day, prior to the bell going at 9.00am. It is expected that learning begins from the moment the bell rings.

Principal Award - Matthew Stevala

Matthew is a happy and social member of the Secondary 7/8 Section. He enjoys assisting his classmates and teachers with routine tasks and is building his skills as a leader.

Matthew is working hard to be an independent learner by using different tools to support his learning across the curriculum.  It has been fantastic to see him effectively using technology to showcase his skills and understanding.

Matthew thoroughly enjoys the social aspect of school and is keen to have a laugh with his friends and teachers. His enthusiasm for life is infectious and he brings positivity and humour to the Section.

Congratulations on your award Matthew!
