Greetings from Shaun

Changes to the morning routine

Starting from next week, we are trailing the opening of all classrooms from 8.45 am each morning.  This will allow students to come into the room start to prepare for their day of learning.  Teachers will work with the students to develop expectations around this, but this might include things like putting their bag away, getting their drink bottle out, or quietly reading a book.

Students may still choose to play in the schoolyard until the music begins playing (at approximately 8.57 am). However, once the music begins playing, students will need to stop what they are doing and head to their classroom to get ready for the day.

To ensure a calm start to the day, if a student chooses to go into the classroom in the morning, they will need to remain inside until 9 am. Students will not be able to run inside the classroom and outside again.

Arrangements for Grade 3/4 Students at The Block

For students at the Block, the gates at the campus will also be opening from 8.45 am for students to enter the classroom. Students in Grade 3/4 may choose to come to the main campus OR to the Block. Please note that there will be no outside supervision at the Block, so students must go directly into their classroom.

IMPORTANTLY students who choose to come to the main campus MUST NOT walk themselves to the Block. Once they have made their choice they must wait until a Grade 3/4 teacher walks them over at 9.00 am. This process will be similar to the current process, with students lining up near the Helen Street gate.

Students who arrive at the Block MUST NOT walk themselves to the main campus.

Specialist Classes

If your child has an Art or PE class session 1, they MUST come straight to the main campus that morning. Current Session 1 Specialists (subject to change) for Grades 3/4 are:

3/4 Laura - Art - Session 1 - Tuesday

Pick up at the end of the day

Students will be dismissed from both the main campus and the Block at 3.30 pm Students being dismissed from the main campus will continue to be walked back at 3.30 pm with their teachers.

Bikes/Scooters

Grade 3/4 students with bikes or scooters may choose to arrive at the main campus, store their bike/scooter in the bike shed and walk across with a teacher at 9.00 am.

Alternatively, they may store their bike/scooter at the Block, but please note that there is NO UNDERCOVER STORAGE in this area, so equipment will be subject to weather conditions.

Please note that neither the main campus' bike shed nor storage at the Block is considered secure, as access can be gained (unauthorised) by climbing the fences. We recommend the use of a bike/scooter lock.

The school gates will continue to open at 8.45 am each morning and will then be locked at 9.00 am when the bell goes. It is important to note that the yard is not supervised before this time, so please ensure that an adult remains with all children until 8.45 am-or that children are booked into before school care if parent/carer supervision is not possible.

Access to the school throughout the day is through the front gate on Helen St.
