Year 7 Visual Art

Students have been exploring the works of Fauvist artists Henri Matisse and Franz Marc. Inspired by Fauvism, Year 7 students have created an array of eye-catching paintings.

 

Year 7 have been introduced to The Elements of Art and are developing their skills in using Visual Arts terminology and writing Artist Statements about their artworks. 

 

Year 8 Visual Art

Students are enjoying the current topic, Inner and Outer worlds. The unit investigates landscapes, realism and surrealism. Students have developed their own creative designs and applied a range of  painting techniques to create brilliant artworks. 

 

Students continue to develop their understanding of The Elements of Art and Principles of Design,  applying knowledge to both practical and theory based tasks. 

 

Year 9 Visual Art

During the term students have had the opportunity to develop their own artmaking practice. Exploring concepts and developing their own Artistic Intention, students have had to consider their conceptual and material practice. 

 

Students have explored the creative process and a broad range of artworks are in incubation. Figurative painting, 3D printing and drawing are just some of the techniques being explored. 

 

Year 9 Artmaking

Year 9 Artmaking are continuing to develop their own compositions in readiness for exhibiting their work around the College. Students are experimenting and researching composition and materials techniques as they develop their artworks.

 

Year 10 Visual Art

Year 10 Visual Arts students are currently creating and exploring the notion of portraiture in visual arts. Each student is developing a composition which explores the many aspects of portraiture and storytelling. 

 

There are some amazing artworks emerging, using a range of techniques in postmodern representations. The students' artmaking work has evolved through research of other artists and experimentation. 

 

Year 10 Photography and Digital Media

Photography students have been creating Postmodern Portrait Portfolios. Postmodernism challenges traditional ideas of art and photography. Using Postmodern conventions including humour and appropriation students are shooting and editing portraits. The photographic works of Max Dupain, Cindy Sherman and Anne Zahalka have been explored throughout the unit. 

 

Year 11 Visual Art

Year 11 are embarking on their Stage 6 Visual Arts journey in numerous ways. They are exploring the theme of ‘Experience’ and using this theme to drive their mini Body of Work. 

 

Each student is extensively developing their concepts through their Visual Arts Process Diary and depth studies of artists such as Ben Quilty and Frida Kahlo. Student are exploring different aspects of experience and it will be wonderful to see their final works of art at the end this term.

 

Year 12 Visual Art

Year 12 Visual Arts students are continuing with the development and refinement of their HSC Body of Work. Students are progressing well at this stage of the Course and are looking forward to exhibiting their works in progress toward the end of Term 2.

 

The ideas and concepts which have emerged are a wonderful testament to the work and time they have invested in developing their Body of Work. Students are also examining the use of technology and its influence on the artworld both in the past and in the present and exploring the work of artists in a contemporary context.
