From the Principal

Week 4 Term 1 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

Bonjour toute le Monde

I trust this week finds all in our community well.  Many parents have commented on the "calmness" to the start of the year. This same calmness is also visible to me on my daily walks around the school visiting classrooms. The children have settled into a "working routine" very quickly. They are focused and wanting to learn. You should be very proud of them!!!!!

Face Masks

As announced by the Health Minister and Premier during the week the wearing of face masks for children in Yrs 3-6 will continue most likely until the end of term.  This also applies to any adult who enters a school building during school hours ( when children are onsite).

Assembly

Assembly will be held outside in the amphitheatre next week- Friday ( weather permitting). This will allow parents to attend. Assembly will commence at 2.30pm.

Ash Wednesday

Our students in Yrs 3-6 will be attending the Ash Wednesday Mass next week.  As it is a parish mass the following requirements apply. Please be aware:

No Vaccination requirements are needed to enter the church

No QR coding required

Face masks must be worn inside. ( students)

Parents can attend but are required to sit with the parishioners and not the students.

Shrove Tuesday

As per tradition at St Bede's, our students will be receiving pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Thank you to Rachel Jeffress who has volunteered to co ordinate Shrove Tuesday this year. Anyone wishing to help out for the morning please contact Rachel - 0413 458 01.

If you do not want your child to receive pancakes or your child/ren require dairy or gluten free pancakes, please let the office know.

School Operation Guidelines

An updated School Operation Guidelines is expected either today or tomorrow. I will let you know of any updates once I receive the guidelines.

COVID update

There was 1 reported positive case this week.  It was in the senior school area.

RAT Tests

Students are still required to test twice weekly. The next delivery of test arrived early this afternoon. You can pick up your next box from the office. (1 per child)

Enrolment for Foundation Year (Prep) 2023

St Bede's is now taking enrolments for Prep next year. If you have a child starting school next year, could you please collect an enrolment form from Chris in the office as soon as possible. You can also download an enrolment form off our website.

If you know of families wanting to enrol at St Bedes please let them know enrolments are open. Word of mouth is the biggest and best form of advertising. Our First Open day will be held on Thursday 17th March between 9.00am and 1.00pm

Swimming

Our Swimming team competed at the district carnival today. Thank you to Mr Price, Mrs Martin and the parent helpers for assisting. The children were very excited! Mr Price will provide a comprehensive report on how the team went next week. What we do know is that Jacqueline has made it through to the next stage as well as our girls relay team.
