NAPLAN 2022

Our school will begin participating in NAPLAN practice tests in March and April. NAPLAN tests will be held between the 10th and 20th May 2022. NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress.

Federal, state and territory education ministers agreed to gradually transition NAPLAN online by 2022. NAPLAN online is a tailored test that adapts to student responses, providing better assessment and more precise results.

We encourage all students to participate in NAPLAN as these tests provides teachers with valuable information to inform them of how students are progressing in numeracy and literacy as well as determining next steps for students and overall school planning. Teaching and learning at Molong Central School Term 1 2022

Our first five weeks at MCS has been relatively smooth for all classes however, in the past week we have experienced significant teacher and student absentee issues. This is impacting on some students and teachers and as a result we have had to engage casual teachers and collapse classes. Our staff are endeavouring to keep students engaged and learning. Our office staff are communicating with families to ensure we keep our school as safe as possible, and I thank all families who have had students isolating or unwell at home for being vigilant in adhering to the health orders.

Halogen Young Leaders Conference Primary

On Tuesday 13th March I had the pleasure of accompanying 13 students to Darling Harbour for the Halogen Young Leaders Conference. Our Stage 6 students braved the Sydney storms and enjoyed the motivational speakers including Lachie Smart, Josh Pyke and Anthony “Harries” Carroll who delivered messages to inspire resilience and a positive attitude despite setbacks. Despite missing the first session our students enjoyed the opportunity to be part of a huge crowd that generated energy and asked some amazing questions. International Women’s Day

Four of our year 12 students Chelsea Comiskey, Leoni Wilson, Mary Johnson and Meg Murray were invited to represented the Women of Molong Central School at a breakfast organised by the Rotary to celebrate International Women’s Day. Guest speakers included Vanessa Low, Paralympian and Professor Lesley Foster OAM, Head of Medical School, CSU Orange. This year the theme was #BreaktheBias and the webpage for the theme has some great messages that I encourage all people to look at.
