3/4 Poetry

The grade 3/4s have been exploring poetry over the last couple of weeks. Come and visit the ‘Authors Walk’ just outside the library entrance to see some of the fine work they have been producing. The following, are just two fine examples.

Oscar, a keen history buff, has used the style of Rhyming Couplet and combined it with the style of using the senses, as an anchor to express his thoughts.

A senses poem, by Oscar Grade 4.

Hear the guns start to attack

Bullets whizzing by with flak

& the bombs exploding in the sky

As German planes start flying by

See the medics run across the plains

Rushing to men who need the aid

No one needs to see what’s done

Except for those whom did what’s won

Smell the gunpowder in the air

As bullets fly everywhere

The only person who knows is you

On how your dear platoon is doomed

Taste the dirt from the explosion

Only you can withstand the quick motion

Feel the ground shake beneath them

As trucks come round the bend

Secondly, Stephanie has used her experience of Athletics Day to create a Haiku.
