Community Garden News

Working together in our beautiful outdoor classroom.

This week in the garden!

This week in the Community Garden we have been learning to recognise Australian native edible plants.

We read about food plants used by Aboriginal people in the book 'Welcome to Country' and Grade 3/4 students had a chance to touch and smell lemon myrtle,  Australian spinach (Warrigal greens), yam daisy  (murnong) and taste the spicy mountain pepper leaf.

Prep tree planting

This week, students in Prep planted two lime trees in the Community Garden. These lime trees will grow with the students as they progress through St Anthony's. Students will be responsible for helping to look after the trees and they will be able to use the produce from the trees when cooking.
