Assistant Principal's Report

Georgia Despotellis

It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of yet another term! Although Term 2 was a short term, it was certainly a busy one.

We have had plenty of reasons to celebrate all the great learning (and teaching) at our school over the last two weeks.

Year 2 Open Afternoon

There were so many proud students and parents/grandparents in the Year 2 classrooms last Thursday. It was lovely to see everyone there and the look on our student faces as they shared their work with their families was priceless. Thank you to everyone who attended and for your positive comments.

Reports/Parent/Teacher interviews and 3 Way Conferences

Reports went live on Compass on Monday and our parents attended Parent/Teacher interviews and/or 3 Way Conferences during the week. I had the opportunity to attend a few 3 Way Conferences and I was so impressed with our students. The way they were able to articulate their learning, self-assess their work against rubrics and explain their reasoning and then set themselves some challenging learning goals for next term was outstanding. I would like to thank our teachers for their work with preparing the reports, meeting with families, and working with our students to ensure that they are able to set those challenging but achievable goals.

There was a stream of very happy parents and students walking through the office area over the last 3 days!

Year 5 Artapalooza Exhibition

Yesterday Rohan and I were happy to be invited into our Year 5 classrooms for the Artapalooza Viewing. As part of the Year 5 unit of inquiry into How We Express Ourselves, the students had the task to choose an issue and experiment with the elements and principles of art, to attempt to convey a message through the art. An information report containing the important reasons, as well as the data and statistics as to why they chose that issue, was also included as part of the exhibition. The students happily articulated their reasoning for choosing that issue and could recall many facts. They were also able to give us their opinion. Please see the photos below and I am sure that you will be as impressed with all the work that went into the task, as well as the end product, as I was.

Sara Wyse – Long Service Leave

I wish to inform you that Sara Wyse will be taking Long Service Leave for the first three weeks of Term 3. Therefore, small group literacy support will be on pause until week 4. MiniLit small group literacy will continue.

Jim – Crossing Supervisor

This week we farewell our long standing and much-loved crossing supervisor, Jim.Jim has been ensuring the safety of our CSPS families each morning and afternoon for over a decade as they cross Bundeera Road. In addition to the thousands of safe crossings, Jim has brightened the beginning and end of our school days with his friendly nature and big smile. We thank Jim for his years of service and wish him well for the next chapter.

Facilities

The garden at the front of the school is looking much tidier after Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who joined Rohan to undertake some weeding, pruning and general clean up of our garden beds.

Curriculum Day – Monday 10th July

Just a reminder that Monday 10th July will be a Curriculum Day. Our staff will be participating in professional learning focussing on Mathematics.

Team Kids will be providing vacation care on this day. We look forward to commencing the term with our students on Tuesday 11th July.

I would like to wish all our students and families a lovely break.
