Tri Skills Gymnastics
Students had a great time trying new things and developing their skills at the Tri Skills Gymnastics sessions this term. Here are a few photos from 1303 and 1304:
Girls Soccer Carnival
On Friday of week 5, a group of year 5/6 girls participated in a soccer carnival at Argana Park. The girls who participated in soccer were Hollee B, Makayla D, Bianca R, Milli N, Layla D, Stephanie G, Hollee H, Isabelle S and Eliza G.
We all played a total of 4 games and in each break, we practised for our next game or we played games. We all learnt how to kick the ball with both of our legs and how to play different positions. We won 2 games, lost 1 game and tied 1 game.
We all had a lot of fun doing what we like to do and would like to thank Mrs Michael for making this possible for all the girls.

Girls Knockout Netball
In week 7 on Friday the 16th of June, the year 5-6 girls played a knockout netball carnival against three other schools (Trinity, The Pines and Angle Vale).
The carnival was played at our school, on the courts. We would like to thank parent volunteers, all the classes that came down to support us, the other schools and most importantly our coach, Mrs Michael.
Throughout the day we played 3 games of netball, we lost our first game against Trinity but we won our other two. Sadly we didn't progress through to the next round. During the day, we learned how to play as a team and how to get better at our team working skills.
The first game was slightly scary because there were a few classes that came down to watch and they were all cheering for us but overall our day was fun since we got to play a sport we all enjoyed with some of our friends.

SAPSASA Football - Knockout Carnival
On the 1st of June, a group from GPS participated in the SAPSASA Football Knockout Carnival. Greenwith were lucky enough to host the event at the Greenwith Oval. The team included Jack H, Jack M, Levi M, Aiden W, Ayden K, Jaden K, Jake S, Sallar H, Ben VL, Liam H, Riley KS, Caleb M and Caleb C.
On the day, we had to meet up at the PE room to get footballs, tables, chairs, goal post pads, tents, a medical bag and a football whiteboard.
We played in a team of 20 so we had 4 people on the bench. The team of boys tried their best but the other schools played better on the day so unfortunately, our school lost both our games. But we were happy on the day and we left the day with smiles on our faces.
During the games, we did score a lot. The goal kickers were:
Jack scored 3 goals and 1 point
Riley scored 3 goals and 1 point
Jye scored 1 goal
Caleb C scored 1 goal
In the 1st game, it was a tight game for 3 quarters but in the last quarter, they just played better than us and won the game.
We had a good time learning how to play in a team and how each other played. We would like to thank Brayden, parent helper Rachel H and the umpires.

Boys Netball Carnival
The boy's netball team played their first carnival on the 2nd of June. Cooper P, Jack M, Jack H, Jaden K, Jayden JK, Tyler B, Ayden K, Levi M, Harry D, Ben VL, Noah Y, Ryder S, Caleb C, Jamie F, Jaxon M, Owen P, Liam H and Mason H participated.
We felt strong and confident for our first game but some of us forgot some of the rules of netball because we hadn’t trained for a long time. By the time we started our second game a lot of us had really good defense and we knew how to play with each other properly. Other than those two games, we felt really pumped and we got along really well, plus we were very excited about winning Division A.
We learnt how to play our positions, how to move the ball fast in netball and how to play as a team all around the day. Some of the boys learned how to play new positions, and some of the boys learned new rules.
The team in Division A came first in their division even though they lost their first game. They won because they had their heads up high after their first game and because of that they won the rest of their games by a lot and won the carnival. The team in Division B tried their best but their opponents were good and they still won some of these games but were unlucky to not win their division on the day.
We would love to thank Mrs Shina and Mrs Robinson for helping the GPS boys to make the day a happy day.
