Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

As tomorrow is our last day of term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our families and volunteers for their ongoing support thorughout the term.  We are particularly grateful for the support given to assisting with our learning programs, camps, excursions,  fundraising and Breakfast Club.

A big thank you also to all our wonderful staff, for everything that they do. After a term that has had more than its fair share of illness, we are all looking forward to a healthier and less disruptive term 3!

Best wishes to those families who are heading up the mountain for the winter.  We hope you have a great season, and look forward to seeing you again in Term 4.

Please note that tomorrow school will be finishing at the earlier time of 2.30pm.

Congratulations to all those students who have been busily fundraising for the Heart Foundation.  As a result of your efforts, nearly $4000 has been raised!  A reminder that tomorrow we will be holding our 'Jump Off'.  Families are invited to come along and join in the fun at 11.30am. To celebrate, students are also encouraged to come dressed in the theme of 'sporty' clothes and to please bring a gold coin donation.  All funds will go towards supporting the Heart Foundation's research.  For more details, please check out our Jump Rope for Heart p

Congratulations to Rowan, Mac, Nina and Ferdi on their participation at last week's Regional Cross Country event, which provided a challenging and competitive event!  We wish Rowan and Mac, who respectively finished 4th and 5th in their event, all the best of luck as they prepare to go on to compete at the State final.

On Monday, students in Years Prep-4 participated in a puppetry workshop with Lyall and Mason.  During the sessions, students engaged with and made their own shadow and Japanese Banraku puppets, about which they created stories to perform for their peers.

In preparation for building works taking place over the holidays, families are reminded that OSHC will be running its Vacation program from the BER building and all access to the school and OSHC program will be via Tennis Court Avenue only.  Please DO NOT park or enter the school via the staff carpark or Lakeside Avenue entrance.

Mount Beauty Secondary College will be hiring out XC skiing equipment for the holidays. Please refer to the community notices for more more details about costs and the Ski Room opening times.

A free parent session, 'Strengthening Children and Teens Against Anxiety' will be held at the Wodonga Senior Secondary College on Tuesday 18th July.  Registration details and further information can be found in the community notices.

In addition, next term our school is participating in the Thriving Kids and Parents Schools Project.  This provides families with the opportunity to attend three, free online seminars designed to support students' social and emotional well-being.  To take advantage of this opportunity, please register before the 26th June.

The Australian Mathematics Competition is on again this year and will be held in August.  We are now seeking expressions of interest from students in Years 3 - 6, who would like to participate.  The cost of entry is $8 per student and participation can be submitted on Compass through Events.

We have been advised of a Compass login update. Families are now able to use their mobile number in conjuction with your unique family code.
