Prayer of Thanksgiving

We thank you Lord, for this term.

For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt.

Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right: to be witnesses of our faith.

Help us to see the face of Christ in others these holidays,

to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others.

To be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun.

Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.

We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents

And a community that cares for us.

May we always be conscious of you in our lives.

 Amen

Dear Parents and Carers,

Ted Lasso is arguably one of the best shows out there right now. The strength of the show is centred around the 5 main characters: Ted Lasso, Coach Beard, Roy Kent, Rebecca Welton, and Nathan Shelley. Each has their own individual leadership and communication style. Each character has true strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots. Over the last fortnight our leadership team here at school have been considering the strengths we naturally bring to the table. As a team we have been reflecting on Patrick Lencioni’s The Six Types of Working Genius to ascertain where our natural strengths lie. I am delighted to report that although we are unique as individuals our genius pairings make us a highly effective team.

As we come to the end of another successful term of learning I’d like to thank our teachers and support staff for their hard work and dedication. We have a wonderful supportive community here at St Margaret Mary’s and the positivity throughout our parent/teacher interviews has again reminded me of the strong partnership between school and home. Have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 18 July.

Cancellation Of Vacation Care

Firstly I’d like to thank the parents who have come forward to provide feedback on the late cancellation of July Vacation Care. I fully appreciate the late notice provided from SCECS has put a number of families in very difficult situations. Whilst we can all appreciate the need for the provider to run profitably, the lack of enrolments should have been communicated much earlier than Monday of the last week of term.

In addition, I trust I have understood the other main concern stemmed from the excessive cost of each day when the additional excursions were added. The $100 - $125 per day in fees were too high and this was a major deterrent for many families who otherwise would have used the service.

Unfortunately on this occasion, the school cannot impact this late cancellation, however, please note that we will be working very closely with SCECS to ensure you are provided with a reliable, cost effective solution moving forward.

If you were booked in at STMM and are still without care, I urge you to contact the SCECS Regional Operations Officer - Elise Weller on 0436 930 326 who is aware of the situation and able to assist you with care at other SCECS locations for this holiday period.

Randwick/Botany Professional Learning

On Monday 17 July, all Catholic primary school teachers in the Randwick/Botany network will be gathering at Corpus Christi College, Pagewood to work together to gain further understanding and implement the new 3-6 English syllabus. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our teachers as they can join with colleagues from other schools to collaboratively plan learning that will engage and inspire our students.
