Rugby

Last week our U14 boys and Yrs 7-10 girls, travelled to Inverell, to compete in the Cochrane Cup and League Tag Gala Day.

Our boys weren't at their best in our first two games against McCarthy and St Philly's, but improved to lose a narrow game against eventual winners St Mary's, then really stepped up to finish 1 try each against Holy Trinity.

With a number of the lads still recovering from recent illnesses, all should be very proud of their efforts. There were certainly more positives than negatives from the day.

The OCC Girls 7-10 Team won 25-12 vs McCarthy Catholic College Juniors, lost 13-8 to McCarthy Catholic College Seniors (eventual winners on the day) and won against St Philomena's Moree 21-8. This put them into the finals playing off for 3rd place against Philies, O'Connor Girls ran away winners 9-4.

The 7-10 Girls team included:

- Sophie Mitchell (Captain)

- Chloe Inman

- Krystal-Leigh Brown

- Shanae Wark

- Hannah Friedman

- Lily McFarlane

- Indi Moy

- Amber Writer

- Zaylia Duncan Muirhead

- Kaylah Selby

- Hayley Clarke

It has been a privilege to watch both skills and confidence grow for our league girls. The girls team is to be commended on their sportswomanship both on and off the field, they are always a pleasure to take away!!

Many thanks to our team coaches for the Girls: Sophie Carson and Brooke Newberry, and James Lawry for the boys.

Thanks to Mr Jon Hawthorne for helping out with the boys and Ms Camilla Clydsdale for organising and training the girls.

CCC Cross Country

This week students who placed in the top 6 for their age at diocesan cross country travelled to Sydney to compete once again. Congratulations to all students who competed

Hockey

Congratulations to Nayte Estreich in Year 7 who attended the NSW State Hockey Championships Under 15s competition in Wagga Wagga.

Although not placing well in Division 2, playing against older and highly skilled teams such as HNE, the Newcastle boys played hard and fair and it was all in all a great experience.
