Highlighting 7G

Having successfully completed their first term of secondary education, 7G are continuously displaying their enthusiasm for learning and a curious nature for a broad range of topics. Coming from numerous Primary Schools, 7G have come together to grow existing friendships, as well as establishing new connections. In every activity they engage in, 7G live by our class motto of being 'a champion for everyone'.

This term 7G has jumped straight into their learning as they prepare for NAPLAN in weeks 4 and 5. In English they have begun studying the art of persuasion where they have identified multiple persuasive devices within various sources and have begun to create their own persuasive pieces of writing relating to our National Anthem.

In Humanities this term, 7G are studying a geography unit based on water and it's connectedness to people. They have looked at how people use water as an environmental resource along with the water cycle. Students will be investigating how water affects people and places by researching rivers and communities in East Gippsland.

Science

These past few weeks in Science 7G have been learning about Forces and the effects they have. 7G compared balanced and unbalanced forces through the use of straws and Maltesers and then made paper rockets that shot through the air up to 100m in distance. This week they have looked at forces involved in collisions and related that to car safety. 7G used a program on their computers to track the forces involved when trolley cars collided either with each other or with a stationary wall. Through this 7G saw that the mass of an object affects the force of the collision.
