Good news story!
VCE Outdoor Education students and staff commended by strangers in the High Country
This week we were absolutely chuffed to receive some email correspondence concerning a group of hikers that our Outdoor Education class met at Federation Hut on the edge of Mount Hotham last term on their hiking trip. The general public don't always go out of their way to acknowledge students and staff they might come across in the course of their daily activities but this group did take the time to pass on some really positive feedback. Have a read:
Myself, my brother and two friends were out on trail a few weeks ago and ended up camping near Federation Hut near Mt Hotham on the Thursday night.
We crossed paths with a group of Year 11 and 12's I believe to be from your school.
What a delightfully beautiful group of kids. We had just received some nasty weather and were all cold and wet. Your students were welcoming, polite, responsive and mature. Many started conversations with us and held a rapport that was quite amazing for kids of their age. Some of the group even came over to our camp and cooked us 'smores' which were both something new to us and delicious.
Your students should be applauded and proud of themselves. The life skills they exhibited were liken of those far beyond their years. I would suggest that whatever you are doing at your school, to continue doing just that. Their camp leader (apologies as I can't remember his name after he came and introduced himself) was fantastic and clearly had the respect of the kids.
Us four fifty year olds who had left our families for a four day hike were all quite taken by the group and when they came up again in conversation again the following day, I felt I should write you a quick note to relay the story.
I wish you and your students all the best in the future.
Regards,
Kieran
What a great feeling and well done Mike Cassidy and your crew Sam Poynton, Tom Hardwick and class, it was a huge commitment on the part of staff, students and families who worked together to ensure the trip was worthwhile and successful. We are feeling very proud!

Annual Report 2020
The Department requires the college to write an Annual Report each year. It is a legislative requirement for all schools to prepare an Annual Report for the school community. The Annual Report discusses the school demographic, including achievement, engagement, wellbeing and productivity. There is also a performance summary of student outcomes and a financial report. A copy of the Annual Report for 2020 can be found on our website via the button below or a hard copy can be collected from the office.
