Jazz Band Performance-Bruthen Ride For Recovery

On the last Saturday of the holidays the BSC Jazz Band performed at the Bruthen Ride for Recovery. The band started the concert program off by performing a number of jazz standards for an hour on the stage in the main street. Each of the members performed solos which were enthusiastically received by the audience and we were lucky to hear special vocal rendition of Minnie the Moocher by Callum Ingram. Members of the band were James Caddie, Emma Holmes, Callum Ingram and Zara Steenhold. A special thank you to James Newman (Band Director) and Kees Dogger (bass player) for giving up time in their holidays to take part in this event.

Swing Band Performance

The Swing Band, under the leadership of James Newman, will be performing at the Bairnsdale Golf Club as part of their ‘Swing Steak & Steak’ night on Friday May 7th. Anyone wishing to hear this band perform should contact the golf club on 03 5156 6252 for more details.

Autumn Concert

BSC school ensembles are all madly rehearsing for our first big concert since COVID. This concert is on Wednesday May 12th at 7.00 pm in Boucher Hall. The concert will feature all the school ensembles and we are especially excited to present the Junior Band with students performing on their new instruments for the first time. COVID safe practices will apply which means audience members signing in, chairs being spaced out and  a cap on audience numbers allowed in the hall. Students should be at school no later than 6.30 pm but we advise audience members to arrive early as well.
