Classroom News - Year 5

                                 English

In Year 5 we have been looking at Informative texts. Students are writing biographies on heroes and factual texts on an animal of their choice. We are writing another Biography for their Big Write next week. Thank you to all the parents that are going through the talk homework with their child. This is extremely helpful and students are coming on the Big Write days with some wonderful ideas.

             Mathematics, Science and Technology

In Week 3, 4 and 5 we are learning about fractions in our current number unit. In Science we are working through our 'Material World' unit and PBL. Students have been participating in a variety of experiments related to the use of different materials. We are also learning about Sustainability and an Eco Friendly world. We will be completing our Create task in a couple of weeks where the students will be creating a design for a Sustainable playground.

                                    Religion

In Religion we are continuing to learn about the history of the Catholic Church in Australia. 

                                  Gymnastics

This week is our last week of Gymnastics. Students have thoroughly enjoyed trying out all of the different apparatus at the newly developed gymnastics centre.

                                  Technology

In Year 5 we have been having conversations about appropriate use of technology . We have been discussing the appropriate use of their school email and how they use Social Media and Gaming. It would be great if you could discuss this with your child to remind them what is acceptable when using different technologies.
