Great Victorian Bike Ride
Campsite Robe SA
Starting in Robe SA and finishing in Torquay, the Great Victorian Bike this year was tipped to be the greatest one ever, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. We had 20 students and three staff members take part in the 10 day event. NHS also had some students and parents participate independently. The course this year took in some amazing sights, travelling past the Blue Lakes and sink holes of Mt Gambier, the Twelve Apostles, the amazing forests in the Otways, and winding along the spectacular Great Ocean Road. The conditions in the first couple of days were perfect for riding, but a few days in we had many days that were wet, cold and windy. Although this was tough going, all of our riders kept their spirits up and had some great banter throughout the whole 10 days. This experience was amazing, to cross the finish line in Torquay with the realisation of what we had all achieved in the last 10 days was truly a proud moment. It was fantastic to see so many families in Torquay to cheer us on. To all our riders, congratulations we did it !!
A special thank you to Luke Slingsby, Josh Bartholomew and Pauline Dridan for staffing the ride.
