Greenteam year in review

Greenteam leader Marco

Celebrating student commitment to our environment

The Greenteam has had a wonderful year. They have collaborated with enthusiasm and drive and encouraged all students to participate in action that supports the environment.  Among their many projects were  Merri Creek clean ups, planting, call-up sessions, submissions of artworks for the black-throated finch project, bee hotel workshops and bake sales. As the recipient of the Junior Landcare and biodiversity grant, they planted thousands of natives and reinforced the Merri Creek banks and installed nesting boxes. This grant also gave Green team, Duke of Ed. and Environmental Science classes an opportunity to experience practical elements of the curriculum, connecting with and enhancing the biodiversity amongst our beautiful Merri creek.

Greenteam students also created a jam-packed engaging program, setting up celebrations and actions during enviro week. We thank Marco Bellemo and Rohan Griffiths for their enthusiasm and connections in bringing in inspiring environmental activists and artists as guest speakers. We also had a wonderful time working with Landcare and the Regent Honeyeater Project on our Greenteam camp at Boho.

Whether you were a  committed Greenteam member, coming every week, talking ideas and taking action or if you just popped in sporadically, whether you participated as part of your curriculum or the social fun of the clean up, we thank you and welcome you next year for a year packed with enthusiasm and ideas. Greenteam will definitely miss the passion and leadership of environmental activist Marco Bellemo and we look forward to working with him in the future.

Come join us next year in whatever capacity you can to help nature thrive.
