Hospitality News

It has been a hive of activity in the Hospitality classroom this term. Our Year Seven students have completed lessons learning about healthy snacks and have produced a range of suitable recipes. This week they analysed healthy alternatives to the traditional sausage roll recipe and loved making their own.

In Year Nine, students completed their practical assessment which was to follow a design brief to investigate, plan and bake a healthy pizza. To end the term students were introduced to the six nutrients, focussing on carbohydrates. They made individual apple pies which contain a high amount of simple carbohydrates, and nacho bowls that contain a lot complex (or fibre) carbohydrates.

Many hands, make light work

For the past three weeks, Year Seven students from Baudin have been volunteering their time at the Gilcreek Scout Camp. This week it was time for mulching. The students carted buckets and wheelbarrow loads of mulch (kindly donated by Barrett's Tree Services) to three areas around the campsite. By the end of the session, they had mulched two large garden beds, around an entire house (dorm) as well as around other outbuildings. It was an amazing effort.
