Summer Sport Awards

I was delighted to present a number of sporting awards at this week’s Assembly.  Many thanks to Mr Nathan Symonds, Director of Sport; Mr Steve Berryman, Junior School Teacher and Sports Coordinator and Mrs Louise Sprigg, Student Services: Sport, and the many staff, coaches and players for their efforts throughout the summer sport season.  There is no doubt, students across the School enjoyed the season and I wish to commend them for the sportsmanship and team focus in their sporting arena.

VET Music

The collection of songs performed at this week’s VET Music Show ranged from Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, Daddy Cool by Boney M, You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling by The Righteous Brothers and Heart of Glass by Blondie.  The Years Eleven and Twelve students performed in front of an appreciative and involved audience whilst the action was streamed to our audiences online at home.  Congratulations to Mr Joe Fowler, Certificate III  Music teacher, Ms Emma Luxton, Director of Music and the hard working IT team lead by Mr Kieran Bailey, IT Manager and Teacher.

Easter

Growing up I can clearly remember Easter celebrations being centred around Easter Sunday. My memory is that Easter eggs and hot cross buns would only appear at this time, unlike today, where the hot cross buns and chocolate eggs begin to appear in January.  The commercialisation of Easter has dramatically increased over time, with a focus on profits over meaning. On Wednesday, students experienced the GSG Easter Service, which included gospel readings, hymns, prayers and drama plays.  We are fortunate our Christian school spends time highlighting the deeper meaning of Easter and connection to our Christian faith.
