Year Five/Six

Last Tuesday, the Grade 5/6s visited the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) in Strathmore. VSSEC engages and inspires students in scientific learning and literacy. It encourages them to participate actively in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

On the day, students participated in two programs: 'Tickle my Droid' and 'Expedition to the M.A.R.S. Base'. The first program involved students learning to control Sphero robots on Mars. They had to work in groups to analyse a problem, design a solution and evaluate their success. In the second program, students got a good feel for what it's like to be an astronaut, having the opportunity to work in Mission Control on Earth, and at the Mars Australian Research Station (M.A.R.S) on Mars.

It was a great day and almost everyone asked if they could go back again sometime soon!

P-2 News

Happy Mother's Day!

Last week, the Year Prep and Year One students were busy making a special gift to give to their lovely mums, aunties, grandmothers or other special people in their lives. Can you tell what materials they used to create these marvellous jewellery boxes?

In line with Mother's Day, the P-2 students have been learning about Mother Mary and the type of person she was. The students were tasked with drawing an image of their own mum and sharing how she is like Mother Mary.

"My mum is like Mother Mary because she is NICE"
"My mum is like Mother Mary because she is KIND"
"My mum is like Mother Mary because she is BEAUTIFUL"
