Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community

Congratulations

Congratulations to Krisna and Arthur on the safe arrival of Maverick. As you can see from the photo's below, Maverick is doing really well especially with the care given by his very proud brother Brenton.

School Library

Our school library continues to be a place of wonder and enquiry as our students are given the opportunity to read the many titles it contains. Part of the attraction of the library space is also the ever changing displays Gerry creates. Our library continues to be a vibrant environment where our students are invited to jump into the marvellous world of books.

Cross Country

Congratulations to our students from Years Four to Six who represented our school at the District Cross Country event held at Bundoora Park last week. In what is arguably the most challenging physically of the sports our students participate in, they all acquitted themselves with determination and displayed great encouragement of each other. I would like to acknowledge the performance of our Year Six student Joel, who finished first in his age group. Joel will participate in the Region championships in the coming weeks.

Popcorn

Popcorn will be be sold as of next Friday. Packets are $1.00 and their sale raises a small amount of money for our school. I would like to thank the family who has very generously paid for the popcorn to be sold this term. They wish to remain anonymous  but their donation is greatly appreciated.

Coffee Van

The coffee van made is first Thursday visit to our school yesterday. Whilst only a small number of parents availed themselves of a hot drink, I am sure  that in the coming weeks it will be the "go to place" to get your Thursday morning coffee fix. As you can see from the photo below, Sharon and our Year Prep 2022 student, Sharlotte enjoyed their warm drink.

School Closure Day

A reminder that next Friday 21st May is a school closure day. On this day our staff will continue to work on our preparation for our upcoming school review. I am aware that EXTEND is offering its services on this day for interested families.

Thank You

Thank you to Liz who did such a great job covering my position during my long service leave. The sign of a capable organisation is one in which when the person who is in charge is absent, others have the skill, confidence and enthusiasm to take on more responsibility. Despite the book that Liz (jokingly) displayed in the office foyer last week, I am very lucky to work with a staff who I can rely upon to give their all, whether I am present in the school or not.

Yours Sincerely

Mark Tierney
