Tree of Life Imagery in Year 7 Art

by Karne Mc Gregor

During term one, Year 7A have studied Ancient Egyptian Art, learning about the symbolic reference of the 'Tree of Life' imagery.

Students were required to design their own 'Tree of Life' artwork then recreate their design using Mono printing techniques. Once the Mono printing was complete, students then combined this with collaging, creating their own interpretations of the ancient art form.

To create the collage effect, students used various bird designs, representing the different stages of life. The students were able to either draw or trace the designs onto coloured card before cutting them out and adding them to their Mono print.

The students did a fantastic job and should be proud of their completed artworks. Well done 7A.
