Visual Arts and Photography

YEAR 7 VISUAL ARTS

Year 7 Visual Arts have started on their art making journey this term. They have explored the elements of art and principles of design and created a range of artworks using Impressionist methods to paint their own landscape composition. Students started the process using a photographic image which they then painted their impression of, with some stunning results. Students are also engaged in learning about an Impressionist artist of their choice and creating a YouTube video which explains their investigation and visual examples.

YEAR 8 VISUAL ARTS

Year 8 have explored numerous Australian artists this term. Tony Albert, Vincent Namatjira and Rona Green to name a few. Students have researched and video recorded interviews with a selected ‘artist’, discussing the artists practice and specific examples of their work. Students have designed patterns using Indigenous symbols and painted the patterns onto totem poles. Watercolour techniques were used by students to create a range of images.

YEAR 9 VISUAL ARTS

Year 9 Visual Arts students have been exploring Vanita’s and the life cycle as represented through the lens of other artists. Students have also engaged in photographing their own compositions and then creating artworks based on this photograph. The skill level they have developed has flourished this term.

 

YEAR 9 ARTISTS PRACTICE

Year 9 Artists Practice students are engaged in developing their artworks. The students have explored many ideas and concepts and are working toward finishing their final pieces in a range of mediums.

 

YEAR 9 PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL MEDIA

Year 9 Photography and Digital Media students have developed their ability to edit photographs using a range of digital and physical techniques. Students have applied glitch, neon and layering effects to photos in Photoshop. A range of light photography techniques were used by students to create images.

YEAR 10 VISUAL ARTS AND PHOTOGRAPHY

This term Year 10 have created a range of self portraits. Students have further developed their skills and ability to represent faces through sketching, line drawing, painting and photography. Students have researched and responded to portrait artworks from the 19th, 20th and 21st century and recognise how artistic styles  have changed throughout time.

YEAR 11 VISUAL ARTS

Year 11 have begun learning about the intricacies of senior art. Students have all explored concepts and developed small experimental works as a part of their assessment. Students have also developed their concept in their Visual Arts Process Diary and end engaged in the study of a range of relevant artists.

 

YEAR 12 VISUAL ARTS

Year 12 Visual Arts are working full steam ahead on their Body of Work which will be due in Term 3. Students are using a range of mediums to create their artworks, and have spent considerable time further developing their individual skills. Students are also exploring artists who use technology as a part of their art making practice, this have resulted in discussions about contemporary art practices.
