Stage 3 Focus

with Mrs Faghani

Stage 3 have been involved in amazing learning experiences in the past few weeks. Here are some of the wonderful things we've been doing:

Learning Conversations

Last week Year 6 students shared their learning with their parents.  Learning conversations are 3-way conversation between the teacher, student and the parent and focuses on the child's learning and includes personalised tips for help at home.  Learning conversations are important for building self-regulated learners who are confident to explain what they have been learning and where they need to go next in their learning journey.

First Foot Forward incursion.

Stage 3 students took part in an incursion led by Western Sydney University, First Foot Forward.  Students were introduced to what University looks like and what kinds of things people study there.  Students got hands-on experience with a design assignment where they had to design a back-pack for a university student using a range of materials.

Open Afternoon.

Parents were invited to the Stage 3 classrooms and got the opportunity to meet their child's teacher, visit the classroom and see what they have been doing in Term 1.  Students shared a range of things with their parents such as:

Class library

Reading books

Writing and Maths books

Where they sit and who their friends are

It was so lovely to see our parents come and see their child's room and their learning the afternoon was finished with a delicious BBQ.
