Principal's Message
by: Ms Reynolds
Congratulations on a productive term 1!
I can't believe we've completed the first quarter of the school year! I am so proud of the way we have managed a range of challenges - COVID (with sickness, isolations and worry); wet weather (not just minor flooding and mishaps, but also children's moods when they can't get out and run around!); and the general tiredness of this term.
Here at GEPS we have continued to focus on what really matters - connecting with students and high quality teaching & learning in reading, writing and number. We have really prioritised a focus on deep thinking and establishing great routines and structures to enable classrooms to run smoothly and with the kind of focus that means every minute counts!
Farewell Ms Allen
This term we farewell Ms Allen - our Learning and Support Specialist teacher who has been part of the GEPS team since 2008!
She has supported many, many students over her time here and her contributions to staff and our community will be missed. We wish her all the best at Belmore South PS.
Women In Educational Leadership
Last week, we held a conference for over 200 women educators in NSW government schools, with the theme "I Can and I Will". These conferences are an opportunity for women in leadership to hear from exceptional key-note speakers about gender, leadership, power, agency and navigating a complex world. We usually have 3-4 speakers and, because I am on the organising team - I had the pleasure of introducing Amna Karra-Hassan at the conference. Amna is an amazing young women who has done so much in such a short period of time. She was inspiring and feisty; passionate and sharply intelligent. AND, many of you would know - she's an ex-GEPS student!!! I was so proud of her.
